SMALL GROUPS

Small groups are the hub, the anchor of CrossPoint Church… in fact we believe that small groups are the place where so much of the important stuff happens in our relationship with God. These groups are the environment where significant relationships are developed that in turn are a spark and driving force for spiritual growth in our lives.

How to Sign-up for a Small Group

Take a look at our online catalog to decide what group(s) would be the best fit for you.

NOTE: Although we do our best to make sure this is accurate, there are often last minute changes and adjustments.  We'll do our best to keep this updated.

What does
FOCUS mean?

Each group has a particular
focus.  Most groups are "sermon based".  These groups will use the intersect small group homework during the study/discussion time.  There are a few groups who are specializing on a particular topic or activity.

Small Groups are Begining the week of January 17th!

So How Do They Work?
A Small Group is made up of 8-14 people who meet weekly to study, to share, and to support one another in their Christian lives.  Each group is led by a trained leader and host couple. A typical meeting lasts for an hour and a half, and always includes some really good food that’s probably really bad for you.

How Long Does A Group Last?
Our small groups last 8 - 11 weeks. Basically, we’ve broken the year into 3 quarters or sessions.  At the end of each quarter, you have the choice of staying in the same group, trying a new group, or even taking a break.  Most groups stay together throughout the entire year.  However, groups do not meet mid-June through August, though some continue to meet informally or socially through the summer.

When and Where do they meet?
Small Groups meet on various days and nights of the week in homes throughout the community.

Which Group Should I Join?
Whatever works best for you.  We suggest you join a group based on your "station in life" rather than on geography or the most convenient night of the week.  We've found that a group works best when you share common interests, backgrounds, marital status or similar aged children.

What Is The Required Commitment?
Joining a Small Group requires an 11 week commitment to attend the weekly meetings and to do the homework ahead of time.  Obviously, allowances are made for sickness, vacation, work conflicts, and other special events...but not much more!  We have found that this commitment is the key to strong
r
elationships and healthy groups.

What About Childcare?
Small Groups are for adults only (Exceptions are made for nursing newborns  up to six months).  We leave it up to each family to work out their own childcare.  Sometimes it works best for families to share a sitter or to swap childcare with another family whose group meets on a different evening or time.

What Will We Study and Talk About?
The studies are based on the previous weekend’s teaching.  Each week there will be a series of Bible passages and questions to study and complete before your meeting.  These questions will help us dig a little deeper and make sure that what we are learning is intersecting with our every day lives.  These questions will be the framework for our study and discussion in our small groups.  The homework is included on the back of the note sheet  found in your program.  It will usually take 20 to 30 minutes to complete the homework. We also take breaks to discuss topics like Marriage, Parenting, Finances etc.

How Do I Sign Up?
Church wide sign-ups begin at the start of each new session (in September,- October this year- January, and March).  You can sign up at our weekend worship gatherings,  here online, or by calling the church office.  Our pastors and staff will be happy to help you find just the right group for you. Those who are new to the church (start attending in the middle of a session) can sign up and join any group that has openings without waiting for the start of a new session.
